I can't thank Holly enough through my nursing journey. I became a mother July 2017, she was 3 weeks early due to Preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. I struggled  nursing my little one at first. I had so much pain due to my baby girl not latching properly. Thanks to Holly's patience and expertise we overcame many obstacles during my nursing journey. She identified  some oral motor restrictions, and referred us for further evaluation to a pediatric dentist.  When we went to see one, he identified that my daughter had lip and tongue ties. After her ties got revised, Holly kept providing her guidance throughout my breastfeeding journey. I am so glad I decided to seek help, and I wish I would have done it earlier. It would have avoided many tears from me and my little one. I owe my success in nursing not only to my perseverance, but Holly's tremendous help. I was able to nurse for 2.5 years, and I am so blessed to have had this bond with my daughter. I would highly recommend Holly to any mom out there who is struggling. Don't be shy or afraid of seeking help because the earlier you do it the happier mommy and baby will be from early on.

First time I met Holly I was a first time mom of a 2 month old baby. He was a premie and I was struggling with nipple yeast and he was having silent reflux symptoms. I was at the end of my rope, I had gone to the prenatal breastfeeding classes and read a lot but it’s so different when it’s an actual baby and not a doll! Haha

I was new in the area, away from my family and had very few friends nearby.

I attended a breastfeeding Q&A (kinda like a support group with amazing lactation consultants) and Holly immediately recognized I needed help.

She taught me so much about position, the correct height, waiting for the right moment to get him to the breast...she would carry him and give me a break...and what makes her so great is that she didn’t have to, she just loves the job! You can honestly say that what drives her is pure passion for teaching us mommas how to feed our babies!

Holly was a life saver for me as a first time  nursing mom.

I thought nursing my child would be easy, I thought that your body would just know what to do naturally.

That wasn’t the case... my milk was just not coming in.  No one told me that being a brand new mom could be so stressful at such a happy and joyous moment. To be honest, my baby was losing weight by the time we left the hospital and had lost even more weight when it came time to go to her first pediatrician check up… Two days later I show up for my lactation consultation, where I was greeted at the door with warm smiles.  I sat down and explained my struggles, medical history and background. We laughed and I cried a little bit this time, Holly and her team had convinced me to keep trying.  I left with hope in my heart. These women were not only nurses and experts , these ladies were my friends and cheerleaders.

I am able to say that I proudly nursed my daughter until she was 3 1/2 years old.  All this  was made possible because of determination, perseverance, and most importantly the knowledge of a mother, a nurse, and lactation consultant who changed my life and relationship with my daughter forever. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have recommended my friends who have struggled  with nursing to visit a lactation consultant. It was simply life-changing and life-saving for my daughter.  I felt like I had regained my confidence in my self and my new role as a mother.

Breastfeeding is hard. If you would have asked me if I’d be nursing a toddler when my daughter was a newborn, I would have said, “no way!”. The early days were so hard on us; I was constantly in tears as a first-time mom in pain and never thought I’d be able to have a breastfeeding journey. I had sought out help everywhere, but didn’t truly make any strides until I met with Holly. Holly’s sweetness, knowledge and support immediately let me know that I could breastfeed despite our challenges. She has helped me through all issues my daughter and I encountered at different stages: food intolerances, latch issues, tongue tie, oversupply, positioning, clogs, etc... She also helped me feel confident in how to use my pump as a full-time working mom. But in addition to her deep lactation knowledge and staying current on lactation research, you just know she truly cares about you and your family and wants you to succeed because it’s who she is. She always checks in on us and I will always feel so connected to Holly. My daughter and I would not have been able to have such a special journey together without her.
